Shire Way Community Composting Site

South Gloucestershire Council are proposing the closure of Shire Way Composting site. This is partly due to the costs (especially dealing with fly tipping) and more recently because the Shireway Community Centre have given the Council formal notice to leave the site. See the Council web page about their consultation.

There is a petition to the Council to keep the composting site or similar amenity open. You can access the petition on the Council web site.

Death of Geoff Danby

We are sad to learn that Geoff Danby died on April 23rd. He was 91 and had been ill recently. For those of you who knew Geoff there will be a service in the Church at 2:30pm on Wednesday 14th May followed by cremation at 3:30pm.

Geoff was a founder member of the Neighbourhood Watch and regularly attended meetings until recently. He was always helping out: with his barbeque barrel at events on the playing field or using his trailer when we put up and took down the Christmas tree on the Green. We will miss him.
